Terms and Conditions

Fulbright Day of Service · Saturday, August 1, 2026

Last updated: June 2026

Welcome, and thank you for taking part. These terms explain what happens when you register an act of service on this site, what we show publicly, and what you can expect from us. They are written to be short and clear. By checking the box on the registration form, you confirm that you have read and agree to them. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Notice.

1. Who these terms are between

The Fulbright Day of Service is an initiative of the Fulbright Association ("Fulbright," "we," "us"). The website at fulbrightdayofservice.org lets you register an act of service for August 1, 2026. Fulbright is responsible for the information you submit. "You" means the person registering an act of service.

2. Registering an act of service

When you register, you are telling us about a service activity you plan to organize or take part in around August 1, 2026. You do not need to create an account. You choose your category (Fulbrighter, Chapter, or Friend of Fulbright) and provide a few details about your activity and how to reach you.

Please make sure the information you give is accurate and that you have the right to share it. Every submission is reviewed by Fulbright before it appears on the site (see Section 6).

3. What we show publicly

To bring the global map and activity list to life, some of what you submit is shown publicly on this website and may be shared on Fulbright Association's social media channels:

  • Your first name
  • Your country, and your state and city if you provide them
  • Your category (Fulbrighter, Chapter, or Friend of Fulbright)
  • Your project name and a short description of what you plan to do
  • A partnering organization, if you choose to name one

The following stays private and is never shown publicly: your surname, your email address, and your phone number. We use these only to contact you about your registration and the Day of Service.

4. Photos, videos, and stories come later

This first step is intentionally light. It does not ask for photos, videos, survey answers, or written stories, and registering does not give permission to use any of those. After the Day of Service, we may invite you to share that kind of content. If you choose to, we will ask for your consent separately and clearly at that point, so you can decide then.

5. Your responsibilities

When you register and run your activity, you agree to:

  • Keep your activity lawful, safe, and inclusive, and in keeping with the spirit and values of the Fulbright Program.
  • Provide information that is truthful and that you are allowed to share.
  • Not submit anything that is misleading, offensive, infringing, or that identifies other people without their permission.
  • Take responsibility for organizing and carrying out your own activity safely, including any permissions, supervision, or arrangements it needs.

6. Review, decline, and removal

Fulbright reviews every submission and is the sole decision-maker on what appears on the site. We may decline, edit, or remove any registration at our discretion, for example if it does not meet these terms or the values of the Fulbright Program. We aim to be fair and consistent, and most activities that follow these terms will be approved.

7. The acts of service themselves

Acts of service are planned, organized, and carried out by participants and organizers in their own communities, independently of this website. The site helps people register, find, and celebrate activities. It does not run them. You are responsible for the safety and conduct of your own activity, and Fulbright is not responsible for what happens during it. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

8. Your information and privacy

Fulbright is responsible for your information and decides how it is used for the Day of Service. We store it securely with reputable cloud hosting providers and use it only to run the Day of Service. We apply GDPR-grade protections to everyone, wherever you are in the world. The full detail, including what we collect, how long we keep it, and who we work with, is set out in our Privacy Notice.

9. Your data rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, correct it, anonymize your submission, or have it removed at any time. Visit Manage your data and enter the email address you used when you submitted your act of service. We will send a one-time verification link to confirm it is really you, then action verified requests within 30 days, subject to any retention required by law.

10. Links and donations

The site may link to other pages, including a donation page and map services provided by third parties. Donations support the Fulbright Association's mission generally and are not directed to any individual activity. Third-party pages have their own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect how the platform works or new legal requirements. The current version always lives on this page, with the "last updated" date above. If we make a change that materially affects how we use your information, we will make reasonable efforts to let you know, for example by email.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms or about your submission can be sent to the Fulbright Day of Service team using the contact details published on the Fulbright Association website.
